The Bifrost Incident by The Mechanisms




Length: One music album. About 45 minutes.

Happy ending or not? No, it's a tragedy, like all the Mechanisms albums.

Who is the wlw? Loki is a woman in this universe, Loki and Sigyn are married.

Is there other representation? Not really. Sigyn is not white on the promo pics, and her voice artist isn't either, but it's not a part of the story.

Trigger warnings? Imprisonment and torture, mental instability, cosmic horror and body horror.

What about the plot? It's an AU of the Norse myth, especially the Ragnarok myth, in space.
The framing device is: long ago, the Ratatosk Express, travelling on the Bifrost, disappeared on the day of its inauguration. Here was the political leader and engineer in chief Odin, her second in command Thor, and the political chaos that ensued put an end to Asgard's imperialistic policy.
Second class Inspector Lyfrassir Edda has to analyse the surveilance tapes and understand what happened. He discovers that Sigyn, the leader of the Midgardian resistance, and Loki, her wife who had supposedly been executed, were on the train...

How good it is? I adored it! I'm biased: I love stories in music form, I love Norse myth, I love f/f romance, and yeah, I can appreciate a good tragedy with an heartbreaking ending. I really love the wits of the rewriting, which seems so far away from the original story at first, but gets so many details in, sometimes as jokes. I really love how the horror works in musical form. My only regret is that, since we only see Loki after a long time of trauma, we don't get to see the funny/trickster part of her.

J'ai vu peu de films cette année. Je crois que Into the Spider-verse et Summer Wars étaient mes préférés.

Tales from the Inner City de Shaun Tan.

4. Votre album/chanson préféré écouté cette année
Album : The Bifrost Incident, une réécriture des mythes nordiques en plus queer et dans l'espace. Mais c'est surtout pour le scénario, je dois avouer. Niveau musique, j'ai adoré Goodbye, le générique de début de Dark.

5. Votre série télé préférée vue cette année
Je vais être cliché et dire Good Omens

Je me suis, comme souvent, amusée à modérer obscur_echange

7. Votre découverte de l'année en fandom
Pas grand chose, cette année, en fait ! Beaucoup de suites ou d'adaptations. Hilda était absolument charmant, Welcome to Night Vale est super-bien écrit et je suis passionnée par La passe-miroir, mais je ne suis pas en mode fanfic et/ou shipping dessus.

8. Votre plus grosse déception de l'année en fandom
X-men: Dark Phoenix était vraiment décevant. Personne ne peut faire une adaptation correcte de cet arc...

9. Votre petit ami de fiction de l'année
Toujours Chidi. J'adore Chidi.

10. Votre petite amie de fiction de l'année
Wen Qing dans Mo dao zu shi

11. Votre grand moment de squee de l'année
OMG c'est tellement dur de choisir. Dans Mo dau zu shi j'ai tellement couiné quand Wen Ning apprend la vérité sur Lan Sizhui !
Mais d'un autre côté je crois que The Magnus Archives est toujours mon obsession, et Jon qui sauve Martin dans the Lonely ? Aaaah...

12. Le vieux fandom qui vous manque le plus
Je suis tellement en retard sur des webcomics que j'adore ! L'année prochaine, je rattrape ou finis O Human Star, Ici vont les morts, et peut-être même Girl Genius si je suis motivée.

13. Le fandom que vous n'avez pas encore essayé, mais vous en avez l'intention
L'an prochain, je commence Carole et Tuesday et Carnival Row. Peut-être des podcasts ?

14. Vos plus grandes espérances de fan pour la nouvelles année
Déjà, la dernière saison de The Magnus Archives en avril !
Et un nouveau roman de Susanna Clarke !
