So, I have decided to be self-indulgent and post about Bungou Stray Dogs again, and post about my top 10 scenes about my fave ship.
Akutagawa->Dazai, if someone comes here without knowing the fandom, power inbalance and manipulation under the cut. ^^
10) Volume 20, the part where Dazai asks Akutagawa to meet him when they forst met, and he runs for it, and yeah they're still theoretically on opposite sides at this moment. Not that they care.
9) Volume... it's gonna be 28 I think, when Dazai makes Akutagawa know that he'd rather put his old coat again (that he gave him once). The translation makes it vaguely kinkyand also yeah, I see tha Akutagawa/Atsushi, but I'm also rolling my eyes at all the people who assumed he would be over Dazai after this
8) Volume 27 when Akutagawa has a vision of Dazai as he's dying, and then the death is cancelled and therefore the vision too, but him being jealous of Atsushi for his PTSD hallucinations sure stays canon.
7) Volume 13, this one is full of good parts but the reaction of Akutagawa this time when Atsushi was the meanest to him (he deserved it) broke my heat.
6) Volume 9, this was the part that made me make oh. Ah yeah I knew he was obsessed, I didn't know he was desperate
5) Volume 6 (with bonus images from volume 27), first encounter from when they were teens! The whole short story is worth it!
4) Volume 9 ! When he literally fainted from a pat on the shoulder and some nice words (yeah I know he was exhausted, still) (it's funny but it also is a lot of other things)
3) 55 minutes, Akutagawa's death scene, because claiming angsty poetry to the void got to me first degree. (even if I was also joking he's just powerful enough to have the time to tell poetry when the world explodes, not enough to survive it though).
Akutagawa is an awful overdramatic pest and I love him so much.
2) Volume 20 again (connected to number 10 and number 5), just these lines made me crazy. I'm kind of frustrated it was never put to the test when he actually lost his memories.
1) Volume 13 again, when they have to ally against a common enemy (like often actually) and instead of doing complicated manipulations, Dazai just... grabs him by the collar, puts him on his knees, and gets him weak enough to forget every word except yes, and I was like
First reaction: wait, he could have done this all the time? *intense kink feelings*
Second reaction: Wait he could have done this all this time? *deep realization about the characters' actual motivations and goals*
(The anime didn't get Akutagawa's face right on this one)

Date: 2026-01-13 12:42 pm (UTC)I arrived in the fandom only recently, and while from a story appreciation PoV I can't complain, i'm glad I was able to binge, from a social-life-in-the-fandom PoV it's complicated, especially when this is your ship :D
(And Akutagawa is very much my fave too <3 )
