flo_neljaI'm doing it again! Here are the fandoms I got into last year, don't hesitate to ask all the questions or half the questions or only one about it.

Someone I loved was deeply into the books, and invited me for a readalong (reread for them)

Not really, for now canon has given me all i wanted
6) Favorite characters
I adore ART with all my heart. But Murderbot is very close. Among the humans, Mensah is my fave.

You know, it's embarrassing, because some people had tried to explain me, without spoilers, you will love the characters relationships, it's exactly your thing.
And then what convinced me is one friend excitingly telling me about the math theory behind the winnowers, I love maths.
Finally, while I loved the math, I enjoyed the relationships better.

Kujen/Jedao is exactly the kind fo ship that makes me scream (good and bad screams alike)

Oh it's a good question. I sure enjoy it, why do I enjoy it? I assume you know the basic premise - some people are "severed" to have a different set of memories at work and in their lives. I love how it treats the theme of exploitation, and the satire of bureaucracy, but what I love even more, because it's part of my favorite themes, is how these two people are alike and how they are different, what in a person is the sum of their memories and what is more.

Date: 2026-01-28 07:54 pm (UTC)1) The reason I started it: I was seeing it on tumblr from time to time, and a friend told me: you'll like it, the main girl is a mad scientist, and there are sea adventures! It's your thing, isn't it? (it was)
2) Since when I knew it existed: I don't remember, maybe a few years?
3) Since when I was interested: I wasn't especially interested before this rec, but I knew it was a webcomic! Free to read! I love reading comics that are free! So maybe I had a bias.
4) If I'm interested in fanfic/fanart: Yes! I love fanart! Sometimes people share it on the Discord! For now I'm not especially looking for fanfic, to read or to write, since the canon is giving me everything I want, but often in sich cases I start reading when the canon finishes.
5) If I'm tempted to write about it
5') And about what
Not yet, though the relationship between Ludovica and Maldoror is incredible. But I'll wait to go where it goes in canon before starting.
6) Favorite characters: Ludovica is the girl of my dreams, she's so brilliant and a loser, she is able to invent so many wonderful things, and to highjack a boat, and she only uses her to study sea sponges, that no one cares about.
But I also love Remy, Jamis, and Luck|Maldoror, I love all the main characters. I'm less interested in the secondary characters... which is quite perfect for me actually. The Doctor is fun.
7) Favorite ships: Remy/Jamis is very good but I'm obsessed with the relationship between Ludovica and Maldoror, be it gen, queerplatonic or ship, it ticks all my fave squares about relationships between humans and Eldritch beings.
8) Favorite parts: "which God? - The bad one" is my fave page of all of them.
9) Why I would rec it: I would rec it to everyone who loves queer people, sea adventures, fantasy theology, Eldritch horrors, mad scientists shenanigans, family shenanigans. Which is me, I would rec it to myself a lot :D
10) One of its biggest flaws: Not really a flaw, but:
* one worry, that the story having some dark themes (sexism, homophobia, the literal end of the world) and it being a fun adventure rump will clash a bit in the end and I'm not satisfied with the ability of the plot to manage both parts at the same time.
* And a light frustration, I have a huge fandom collision with Maldoror! He's this evil gay male wizard from classic French prose poetry who makes jokes about killing flies for fun and has sex with sharks! it's not easy, sometimes, to like two fictional character with the same name, who have some common points but not enough. It's weird.

Tone balance be so frustrating - but I sympathize even more with the frustration of a character having a name Just Like Similar Character In Other Media; that indeed Weird with a capital W!
