Peut-être, je suis en train de réfléchir.
Pour l'instant je n'ai rien sur Bardes (ça peut être n'importe quelle version fantasy d'un poète, chanteur ou conteur), et si tu as des idées pour Dark Academia ou Small Town, ça m'intéresse aussi !

Est-ce que tu as lu The Girl from the Sea de Molly Knox Ostertag, est est-ce que ça rentre dans romantasy ?

Barde : The Baker and the Bard by Fern Haught (graphic novel - je ne l'ai pas lu)
Dark Academia : Magic for Liars by Sarah Gailey (roman, tome unique)
Small Town : The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater (roman, début d'une série, il y a moyen de trouver plus court)

Je ne l'ai pas lu, mais ça a l'air.

OOoh the Raven Boys, c'est le truc que j'ai mélangé avec The Foxhole Court/The Raven King dans ma tête pendant longtemps (tu as le droit de te moquer de moi ! :D ). J'ai lu l'un, je devrais peut-être tenter l'autre... :D

C'est normal, The Raven King, c'est le #4 de The Raven Boys et le #2 de The Foxhole Court. En plus, les fandoms overlappent et il y a des fics crossover.

Magic for Liars, c'est une détective qui enquête sur la mort d'une prof dans une école de magie. (Avertissement : La morte était lesbienne. ;__; Mais l'histoire est vraiment bien.)

The way they're using "fantasy" is very broad, if that helps. Basically any speculative fiction, from horror to magical realism to hard sci-fi, is acceptable.

Yes, it's what I heard! Ha ha worst case scenario I'll have to finish fast with only comics. And I will cheat and put my fantasy readings of this month in boxes they happen to fill :D

[Edit] My borderline cases are often rewriting of myths whose summary totally matches the definition of "fantasy" but that happen to have been written a few century before fantasy was invented ^^

Thank you! I have ideas for all the squares right now, but some are vague; if you have personal favorites to rec for "Dreams" or "Bards" or "Disabled characters" I'm interested!

Recs coming right up! Sorry if I end up recommending you books you've already read - my memory for who's read/seen/heard what is ridiculously short 😅

For "Dreams" I'd recommend the first book in the Rook & Rose trilogy, The Mask of Mirrors by M.A. Carrick, since I love both its plot and characters aaaand because dreams are a huge part of the story (though I shan't spoil why).

For "Bards" I recommend the first book in the Quarters series Sing the Four Quarters by Tanya Huff, 'cause I love its political intrigue, magic system and queernorm world, and the main character is a bard.

And for "Disabled characters" I recommend either Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao if you're looking for a revenge tale that's all about fighting the patriarchy from within by stealing the patriarchy's giant magical crystal robots (the "Pacific Rim meets Handmaid's Tale" description in the book summary is fairly accurate). The main character had her feet bound as a child, making walking difficult for her and has resulted in chronic pain.
OR
If you're in the mood for something that's still thrilling but less dark, A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland, where in a prince with severe anxiety needs to solve a financial scam, avoid assassins and maaaybe fall in love with his body guard along the way.

Hope I managed to rec at least one thing you haven't already read!
