In your own space, celebrate a personal win from the past year: it can be a list of fanworks you're especially proud of, time you spent in the community, a quality or skill you cultivated in yourself, something you generally feel went well. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

So, about fanworks, I had stuck myself in a position before where I was only writing for exchange and events, and other situations usually with deadlines. It doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy the fandoms I was signing up for, but I needed the extra impulsion.

So in 2022 I'm proud of having done some actually free writing on my own ideas (less than 10% of my overall writing, but it's something)!

And I will even link to them again. Because I can ^^

Dark Core Burning (Arcane, Jayce/Viktor BDSM smut)
A mirror shows more angles broken than whole (Arcane, weird Hexcore PoV)
Shotgull Wedding, or Necromancy for Beginners (Our flag means death, fix-it for Karl)
The Dancer's Fate (The Magnus Archives, Neil/Annabelle mind control erotic horror but no actual porn)

That is such a great win. I know how easy it is to fall into the trap of writing for exchanges only. So it's fantastic that you managed to break away from that.

You should be proud!

I've saved your Arcane fics on my e-reader for later. I know I will love them when I finally read but at the moment I feel a bit too intimidated to do so? (I'm sorry I know it sounds odd but.)

Like you, I'v had periods of time where I basically only wrote for exchanges, and honestly, while I love the deadlines and the event and making someone else happy, there's something about just working on your own stuff at your own pace every once in a while. And also, writing my own ideas sometimes helps me get more motivated for exchanges. I hope writing your own ideas did the same for you.

That definitely is the important part! It would be no fun if it took away from other fun activities.

I totally relate to only writing for exchanges, because that is mostly what I do, so congrats to you for breaking away! :D
