25) A time where a canon really disappointed you (in a femslash or lack of femslash way)

First, to be disappointed, I would have needed to have actual hopes. So, no Once upon a Time on the list, even if Emma/Regina made perfect narrative sense and it was a waste.

Oh, I can remember one, and it's even worse, because I loved the movie! When I watched When Marnie was here, I was expecting Anna and Marnie to be a classic Ghibli romantic friendship, not canon, but sure not not-canon. Then the ending came and hit my hopes like a truck. It was not bad, and I'm glad I wasn't spoiled. I was not disappointed by the movie overall, but femslash-wise, sure I was. ^^

When Marnie Was Here felt like such a bait and switch. Though I watched it for the first time just after a grandparent died (not knowing what the movie was about) and a sweet Ghibli movie turned into the most horrific thing ever.

Oh, I feel you on When Marnie was There... if you ignore the reveal at the end it's a really sweet relationship. The book has a slightly different vibe -- I read it years ago and IIRC it's less femslashy than the movie. It was a pretty good read.
