OOoh! You know, I don't hate fluff. But I'm not lucky with ships. When I'm like "aaaw they're so cute" there's a good chance it's meant to end horribly.
Like Willow/Oz in Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Hiro/Charlie in Heroes.
But you know, in Haikyuu!!, I have a fluffy ship that gets a real happy ending (I know they're not canon, I don't care, they got a happy ending as friendship that you can read as you want), so it can be Azumane/Nishinoya

Date: 2021-08-23 06:33 pm (UTC)I loved Willow and Oz as a kid and I remember it ending horribly. The episode when they broke up broke my heart as a kid! And I was so mad at oz. *laugh* But it is alright, we got Tara out of it at least!

And if you're alright with it, I will answer here about Gerbert d'Aurillac, to not clog the launch-the-fic page. I'm usually not that interested in all medieval popes (I mean, I love some stories! But I'm not versed in them!), but this one 1) was a mathematician (I am too, and I'm very into historical mathematicians), and 2) has been accused of black magic, which is a baseless accusation in real life but is super-cool to exploit in fiction. Actually, first time I heard about him, it was in Master and Margarita by Bulgakov when he was just referred as "an occultist". Also, of course, the pope around year 1000 with all the end of the world rumors...
I heard he was part of the reason occidental world started to use Arabic numbers? But I don't know whether it's a legend since I never knew the details?

Date: 2021-09-02 04:13 am (UTC)Ah, mathematicians are so cool! I have a lot of respect for the field (and work in computers, so sisters in STEM XD). I think the person Gerbert was actually quite ahead of his time and really quite influential in math (can you imagine if we'd not adopted the Arabic numbering system?).
And yeah, obviously baseless but man the CRAZY rumors about him! I know it was more common in church infighting to accuse people of stuff like witchcraft in the medieval years, but it's such a "Wait, wtf??" when you read a biography of a pope and its like "and also he had an automaton head that could answer math problems!"
I've heard he was influential in using arabic numbers as well but I couldn't find a lot of proof of it. I think he's at the very least one of the first to bring the arabic numerals out of his Spanish studies and into rome?
