Femslash February Challenge: Day 19
Feb. 19th, 2021 09:48 amDay 19 of female-centered stories with canon wlws!
Rafiki by Wanuri Kahiu

Length: One short movie, 1h20
Happy ending or not? Could be more explicit but very hopeful.
Who is the wlw? The two main characters, Kena and Ziki
Is there other representation? It happens in Kenya, so everyone is Black. There's a gay man, a few fat women, all in background
Warnings? Homophobia.
What about the plot? Two girls from very different backgrounds, whose fathers are competing against each other in an election, become friends, then more.
How good it is? I loved it! It's well filmed, I loved to see a movie that happened in a country I don't know well, and the girls are very cute. (also there are no sex scenes, but the soft touching was hotter than some sex scenes in movies, ha ha)
Of course the homophobia makes it a harsh story. And I would have liked if the ending was a bit longer. But it was good.
