Ha ha, first I was a big fan of Nils Holgersson when I was young. I read a few other books by her. In the beginning of last year, someone on my reading list had a plan to make a Gösta Berling readalong, I got hypoed for the project, and I still read it even if eventually it didn't happen.
So, I love the atmosphere. It's a bit mythical, but you never know if the devil is actually here or not... I love the construction. How each chapter sounds like a tale that you could tell by the fire, with an ending, and the whole novel still manages to be coherent and suspenseful. I love how there are strong, nuanced, very different female characters.
