Femslash February - Day 23
Feb. 23rd, 2023 02:32 pmAs I was looking at the f/f fics I love that are not on AO3, I fell on a Naru Taru fic and I was remembered of how much I love the main girls (in French).
It's not a manga I recommend to most people, it's absolutely awful, with all the levels of sadness from bullying to the end of the world, and so many squicks (underage sex, rape, graphic gore, you name it)
But also! I have some fics to rec about this ship! One outside of AO3 and one on it!
Nine Hundred and Ninety Nine
Akira is slowly turning crazy out of fear, and Shiina is the only healthy thing in her world, but will she be able to help her and love her enough?
Notes: darkfic, some spoilers
It has a good character voice, and I love the rhythm of folding paper cranes for an unrealizable wish. It's sad and beautiful.

Whatever it is that the two of them have found themselves mixed up in here, Shiina’s not afraid. Shiina doesn’t do afraid, not really, because she knows that the world is a good place and that people are kind, when you get right down to it. But what she is is angry - angry for Akira, and for whatever these monsters have done to Akira’s life, and she chews at the knuckle of her thumb and stares down at the carpet as she thinks about it, intently, harder than she’s ever thought about anything before.
Akira stays beside her. Every now and again Shiina feels a little like she’s being watched; when she glances to the side and smiles, reassuringly, Akira turns a dusky shade of embarrassment and looks hurriedly away.
(Maybe, in another universe, if something fell to Earth with the power to kill just about anyone, then things would go horribly wrong: but not in this one.)
So, one of the only canons where a Death Note AU makes things better. ^^ I love the worldbuilding, the mixing of the plot between the two universes.
