I actually got into the Gravity Falls fandom because of you.
I guess I would have gotten into it anyway. One of my friends was trying very hard to sell it to me, about the family relationships and the weird creatures and the cool characters and the humor and it seemed tempting.
But one day, she told me "there's a mad scientist who makes a deal with a demon and you can ship them!"
And it was done, I was sold, I wanted to see this. I love mad scientists and demons and demon deals! I sort of ship Faust and Mephisto, of course I want this. I watched all that the show had at the time in one week.
Of course it was a bit of a spoil! But she could have said so much more to drive me into it, because yeah, all the tropes I love are here.
There's a mix of magic and science, there's seduction and betrayal, there's xeno, there's foeyay between enemies that could be exes, there are religious themes, there's dream stuff and mindfuck, and all I could wish for.
So I started shipping it hard, and i kept shipping it hard, and i wrote fic, and I read fic, and I looked at fanart. And I met writers who understood all the darkness here, and impressive fanartists, and also wonderful people in general.
I still haven't finished all I want to write about these characters' more-than-thirty-years of unhealthy relationship.
